Beginners Guide to Using Straightening Stylers to Straighten Your Hair

If you are going to straighten your hair this guide will help and provide you some advice, if you are unsure or have not straightened your hair prior to this, I honestly suggest that you seek professional advice and speak to your hair stylist. In an ideal world get your stylist to straighten your hair for you if it is your 1st time or if you do not want to risk ruining your hair. There are steps used in hair straightening that alter the hair at a structural level, so you are constantly running the risk of a mess if you rush.

I only use GHD stylers, they have ceramic plates and they are better quality, you can purchase cheaper straighteners but I do not think you should. I used to use lower quality hair stylers until my hair stylist suggested I try GHD straighteners, now I did I will not go back to cheap stylers. GHD straighteners cost over ninety pounds a set, this is expensive, but they are worth investing in and trust me your hair will not get scorched, this is the result you receive from using cheap quality stylers.

Lets start, wash your hair thoroughly, use a standard shampoo for your hair kind. The vital stage next is to condition your hair well and use a quality conditioning serum, the reason for the expensive conditioner is to protect your hair from the heat it will be directly exposed to. You should try to have a quality conditioner to hand for everyday use, it is a nice way of improving the body and volume of your hair, you can also add a silicon based product to give your hair increased shine.

Moving forward, whilst your hair is still wet you should now put on a thermal protecting serum from the end of the hair to the root, be patient on this and make sure that you cover every single strand of your hair. Protection of your hair is important as the stylers will place your hair under a lot of stress and heat, once more a bit of extra money spent on the product is essential, if you are cheap here is not good news for your hair. GHD have a great range of thermal protecting products, you can also head to Jason Shankey for a choice of haircare products, they have a selection of quality hair products.

Last, but not least is the straightening, dont use cool straighteners, if they are too cool when you begin you will have issues. Move the straighteners from root to tip, move the straighteners gently down the hair, dont be hasty and grab too much hair, take your time and take enough hair to lie flat across the plates of your straightener, you may need to make 2 passes on the same area of hair, if you are passing over the same areas of hair more than twice you have too much hair in the straightener, patience is the way for the best results, working too fast just wont give you the best results for your look.

Its not rocket science I know, but I hope the guide provides some guidance. If you have problems do not be alarmed speak to a hair stylist, I can also recommend getting a buddy to help.
Good luck.
